Trinity's Biel Named To D3football.com Team of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Trinity University junior kicker Garrett Biel was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, for his performance in the 18th-ranked Tigers' 27-9 win over visiting Sewanee on Oct. 8.

Biel kicked a pair of field goals to lead Trinity in a win over Sewanee. Biel had field goals of 34 and 33 yards in the game, and also kicked three extra points to give him nine of Trinity’s 27 points scored.

His field goals were the only points scored by either team in the first and third quarters. For the season, Biel leads Trinity with 38 points scored, and has hit 6-8 field goals, and 20-21 PAT’s.  His long field goal this season is 37 yards, and he has hit 4-5 from 30-39 yards on the year.

Biel's national recognition is the fourth such time this season that at least one student-athlete from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

Centre College's Jordan Gay and Birmingham-Southern College's Shawn Morris earned the honor in week one. In week two, Birmingham-Southern's Andrew Shannon was lauded and the Trinity offensive line was selected in week three.
