SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity senior forward Abby Loar has been selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America team for the second straight season.
Loar was chosen for the 2011 NSCAA Scholar All-America First Team, after earning a spot on the Second Team last season. She was also a First Team NSCAA Scholar All-Region award-winner each of the past two years.
Loar led Trinity to a 22-1 overall record, falling in the third round of the NCAA Playoffs at Ithaca College. Loar earned her second consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year award as well, scoring a total of 21 goals - eight of which were game-winners.
She is a four-time All-SCAC player, and in addition to her Scholar All-America honors, Loar has also earned All-American honors each of the past two seasons. Loar was a Third Team All-American selection by both the NSCAA and D3soccer.com in 2010. For 2011, she was not chosen as a First Team All-American by both organizations, but she was also voted as the D3soccer.com National Forward of the Year.
During her senior season, Loar became Trinity's all-time leader in career points and career goals, as well as moving into third place in Tiger history in career assists. She is just one of four Tiger players in history to score 50 or more points and 20 or more goals in one season, and she is the only player ever to score 15 or more goals in three separate seasons (2009, 2010, 2011).
