MICHAELA BOSCO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore forward from Weatherford, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 10th through Sunday, October 16th. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 7)
Bosco sparked an offensive outburst for the eighth-ranked Tiger women's soccer team, which outscored its opponents 20-0 in three SCAC wins last week. Bosco scored a total of six goals and added an assist in the three contests, including the game-winning goals on Wednesday against Schreiner and Friday against Austin College. Against Schreiner, she finished with a career-high four goals scored, which is tied for the second-most in Trinity history. Bosco then added the game-winner against Austin, then finished with a goal and an assist on the first two scores of the second half against Dallas on Sunday. Bosco leads the team with 14 total goals that includes six game-winners, and is also tied for the team lead with eight assists.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder Gabby McDonald of Centenary continued her hot streak, having now scored in four-straight contests, registering a goal in both road losses against Texas Lutheran and Southwestern. Freshman midfielder Cassandra Ochoa of Schreiner rang home the game-winning goal in the Mountaineers 1-0 win over Dallas and then assisted on the game-winning goal against Austin College. Sophomore forward Samantha Hazen of Southwestern lifted the Pirates to a 2-1 record last week, registering a goal and two assists in wins over St. Thomas and Centenary. Freshman forward Elaina Barrientes of Texas Lutheran scored two goals across three matches and dished out two assists on corner kicks against St. Thomas to tally six points to lead the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week. TLU now stands alone in second on the current SCAC standings.
