Newland led the Tiger women's soccer team to a pair of wins over its SCAC road weekend, defeating Southwestern 4-0 and beating Texas Lutheran 2-1 to remain undefeated in conference play. Newland and the Trinity defense posted its fourth straight shutout in Friday's win over Southwestern, then held Texas Lutheran to just four total shots on Sunday. In total, Newland and the Tiger defense allowed just eight shots on the weekend, with only two on target.
Junior goalkeeper Kenedie Lane of Austin College had a strong weekend as the 'Roos earned a pair of draws in conference play. Lane logged more than 145 minutes and allowed a single goal while making five saves and earning a shared clean sheet in a scoreless tie with Centenary. Junior goalkeeper Madison Ersoff of Centenary now leads the SCAC with 93 saves on the season after corralling 13 last weekend in a pair of contests, highlighted by a seven save performance in a 0-0 tie against Austin College. Ersoff has now recorded five-plus saves in 11 matches this year, including her current streak of four-straight fixtures. First-year goalkeeper Ella Charles of Dallas led the Crusaders to a pair of shutout SCAC victories last weekend, knocking off Centenary and St. Thomas at home. Charles finished with two saves on the week and has helped Dallas vault into second place in the current league table standings.
