WILL SALONY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Dallas, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 25 through Sunday, March 31. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 5
Salony took fifth place at the Texas Relays in the men’s 1500 with a time of 3:49.12. This places him at the top of the SCAC and third in Division III in the event.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior James Settles of Colorado College broke his own school record in the 10K race at the WashU Distance Carnival Thursday night. Settles finished 15th with a time of 29:46.9, shattering his previous school record of 30:20.8 which he set last season at the KT Woodman Classic. The senior currently holds the best time in the SCAC and the ninth-fastest time in nation in that event. Junior Bryce Powell-Chimene of Texas Lutheran was the top D3 finisher in the 400 meters at the Bobcat Invitational with his time of 48.45. He was also part of the 4x100 team that ran a season-best 41.51, the top time for a D3 team at the event. Lastly, he anchored the 4x400 team that ran 3:19 to finish eighth overall and also tops among DIII competitors. Senior James Urbina of St. Thomas set the pace for Celt distance at the Bobcat Invitational this past weekend, lowering the school record in the 10K to 32:40.49 - a a mark that currently ranks fourth in the SCAC.
