IRVING, Texas - Third-seeded Trinity University jumped out to a 9-0 lead after three innings and held off a valiant comeback bid from second-seeded University of St. Thomas to win 10-9 and advance to the 2022 SCAC Softball Championship game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers raced out to an early 4-0 lead after a half inning of play highlighted by Jordyn Williams' two-run homerun. Trinity then tackedon two more runs in the top of the second to push the lead to 6-0.
- Three more runs came across for the Tigers in the top of the third and pushed their lead to 9-0 thanks in large part to run scoring singles from Alexa Saucedo and Lanie Smith.
- St. Thomas got on the board in the bottom of the fourth as the Celts cut the Trinity lead to 9-2. It was in the fifth, however, where the Celts began to change the potential outcome of the game. St. Thomas was able to put up five runs in the fifth to pull to within 9-7 highlighted by a bases loaded walk, a hit by pitch as well as a run scoring single from Delayne Moreno.
- Trinity tacked on a much needed insurance run in the top of the sixth after Sammie Whitman came throught with an RBI single down the left field line to make it 10-7.
- The bottom of the seventh saw the Celts put runners on second and third with no on out after a passed ball. Two batters later Jaelyn Simmons drove in a run with a groundout to short to make it 10-8. The next batter, Ariana Brown scored from third on an error before Sydneye Cromwell lined out to short to end the game.
