KIONA HSIU OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Missouri City, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition from Wednesday, March 2 through Tuesday, March 8. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 3)
Hsiu posted the only sub-80 round of the entire 36-player tournament on Tuesday (79; +7) to jump into the individual championship with a 161 (+17) overall score to lead the Tigers to the runaway team title at the Schreiner Spring Shootout.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Madison Miller of Southwestern, the tourney’s first-round leader, settled for a runner-up finish after rounds of 81 and 82 (183, +19) at the Schreiner Spring Shootout. First-year Kimberly Burch of Dallas finished in fourth place at the Schreiner Spring Shootout, four shots off the lead, with a two-day total of 165 (+21). Sophomore Audrey Garza of Texas Lutheran paced the Bulldogs with rounds of 93 and 89 (182) to finish tied for 20th at the Schreiner Spring Shootout. First-year Shelby Vetere of Schreiner shot the team’s low-round of the tourney - an opening round 89 - and finished in a tie for 22nd at the Schreiner Spring Shootout.Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
