CC GRAY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, February 26 through Sunday, March 3. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 1
Gray also ran the second leg of the 4x400-meter relay that finished in 3:59.99 that was good for second place overall, but first among D3 relay teams. The Tiger team also moves into the top 10 in school history with that time.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Peyton Walton of St. Thomas was a force in her outdoor debut for the Celts as the top D3 finisher in the 100 meter hurdles at the Trinity invitational. She posted a time of 15.30, and currently sits at third in the SCAC. Walton was also a part of the 4x100 relay that took first at the event at 49.03. At the Hendrix College Alumni Open, first-year Bailey Haas of Dallas placed sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 13.15, beating 11 Division II and NAIA athletes as well as two other Division III athletes. She also placed eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.29, beating 12 Division II and NAIA athletes along the way. First-year Katie Kostelnik of Texas Lutheran finished seventh in the 400 meters at the Trinity Invitational with a time of 1:01.44. She also ran anchor on the 4x400 relay team that finished fifth.
