MICHAELA BOSCO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore midfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, October 17th through Sunday, October 23rd. SCAC Women's Soccer Release (Week 8)
Bosco registered a hat trick to cap a 2-0 weekend for the Tiger women's soccer team, which locked Trinity in as the top seed for the upcoming SCAC Tournament. Bosco doubled her season total in goals with Sunday's hat trick in the win over Centenary, which also marks the fourth time over the last two seasons that she has scored three or more goals in a game. She scored all three goals in just under 51 minutes, netting two in the first half of play. In addition to her three goals, Bosco added an assist to finish with seven points on the afternoon, the most in any single game this season in the SCAC.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore defender Lauren Powell of Southwestern anchored a Pirate defensive effort that allowed just one goal earned a pair of SCAC victories last weekend at home over Dallas and Austin College. Powell and the Pirates limited opponents to just six total shots, only four on target in the two wins. Junior defender Kayla Thomlinson of St. Thomas played all 180 minutes in the Celts’ two conference matches last weekend, allowing just two goals including earning the team’s first conference win over Schreiner. Thomlinson’s efforts helped limit Trinity to just one goal in a tight loss, the fewest goals the Tigers have scored in any SCAC contest this year. Senior defender Bailey Meyer of Trinity led the Tigers to a pair of shutout wins over the weekend, clinching the top seed at the SCAC Tournament with the results. The Tigers limited St. Thomas to just two shots in Friday's 1-0 win on the road, then Meyer and the defense held Centenary shot-less over the weekend finale at home on Sunday. Meyer also chipped in with a goal to close out the first-half scoring of the lopsided 9-0 victory. The two shutouts bring Trinity's season total to seven clean sheets, including six in the last seven games - all against conference opponents.
