ROSABELLA ANDRADE AND TRINITY LEVY OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, have been selected as the SCAC Women’s Doubles Team of the Week for matches played from Monday, February 24 to Sunday, March 2. SCAC Women's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 5
Andrade, a sophomore from Southlake, Texas, and Levy, a junior from Camarillo, Calif., led the 13th-ranked Tiger women's tennis teams to a pair of 7-0 victories over McMurry and East Texas Baptist on Sunday. The Trinity duo won both of their matches from the #1 doubles line, starting off with a 6-1 win over McMurry that clinched the doubles sweep for the Tigers. Against ETBU, Andrade and Levy won 6-2 in another match to clinched the sweep heading into singles play. Trinity's #1 doubles team improved to 6-3 this season with two wins this weekend, extending their win streak to three matches.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior Isabella Cepeda and graduate student Kayla Pena of Concordia (Texas) showed grit in a 7-5 victory on line one against Jenna Vincent and McKenzie Carroll of McMurry. With the score knotted at 5-5 in their lone match of the week, the duo stepped up to claim the final two games of the series in the Tornados 7-0 sweep of the War Hawks. First-year Olivia Sanchez and first-year Natalie Valle of Austin College secured the doubles point against Texas Lutheran, helping the Kangaroos go up 1-0 on their way to a 5-2 match victory and the team's first win of the season.
