Mackenzie Logan, Trinity University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 1)

MACKENZIE LOGAN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior outside hitter from Calgary, Canada, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 1)

Logan, who earned tournament MVP honors at the Trinity Fall Classic, had 54 kills (4.50 per set) and totaled 63 points (5.3 points per set) as the eighth-ranked Tigers went 3-0 with victories over Cortland, East Texas Baptist and Saint Benedict. She hit .455 in the season-opening win againt Cortland, and had a match-high 23 kills in the five set victory over ETBU. For the weekend, the super senior hit .298 and also tied for the team lead with seven service aces.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior outside hitter Carly Berkman of Southwestern led the Pirates to a 3-0 start to the season at the Jim Coleman Memorial in Aurora, Illinois. Berkman kicked off her season with back-to-back sixteen-kill games against Aurora and Elmhurst, and in the final match of the Invitational, helped Southwestern to a 3-0 win over 21st-ranked UW-Stevens Point. She led the Pirates in kills in each of the first three games and was named "Tournament MVP" with 44 total kills and a .298 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Brylie Nedd of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with 40 kills this weekend (3.33 per set) including matching her career-high with 19 against ETBU. Nedd earned All-Tournament honors at the Trinity Fall Classic for her performance. Sophomore outside hitter Alexis Bodunrin of St. Thomas had a total of 33 kills (3.30 per set) and hit .403 as the Celts posted a 2-1 opening weekend. Sophomore middle blocker Brooke Brilliant of Colorado College collected 36 kills, including a season and match-high 20 in a five-set upset win over #11 Transylvania, last weekend at the Pikes Peak Challenge. She hit .359 for the weekend, including .462 against Millikin and .450 (20 kills, 2 errors) against Transylvania. Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Sadler of Austin College helped the 'Roos open the year 3-1, leading the team with 2.7 points-per-set while averaging a team-best 2.47 kills with a .236 hitting percentage. Sadler posted a career-high of 12 kills in a sweep of Lakeland, and followed with 11 kills in a five-match set against Wisconsin-Superior. Sadler also had four total blocks, including two solo. Sophomore outside hitter Jennika Willis of McMurry averaged 2.23 kills per set as the War Hawks posted a 2-2 opening weekend record after winning just two total games in 2023.
