EMILY GNECCO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Livermore, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 7)
Gnecco led the Trinity women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the OLLU West Side Classic on Saturday. The Tigers were the top Division III team at the meet, with Gnecco leading the way in 15th place individually. She was the top finisher among four total SCAC schools, and she was the second-best finisher in D-III. Gnecco turned in a personal-best time of 22:41.8 at the race, which puts her in the top 20 in school history.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Chloe Weathers of University of the Ozarks finished second overall with a time of 19:08 to help the Eagles to their first team win in program history at the UofO Cross Country Invitational. Sophomore Alexandra Ramon of St. Thomas led the Celts with a time of 23:43 in the 6k at the OLLU West Side Classic on Saturday. First-year McKenna Emerson of Schreiner led the Mountaineers at the OLLU West Side Classic with a 6k time of 24:36 - a performance that was more than a two minute personal-best. Junior Alexis Albert of Texas Lutheran had an outstanding 6k race at the OLLU Classic, finishing with a new personal best time of 25:12.3. She improved her time by over a minute from the OLLU Invite in September on the same course and it was nearly a two-minute improvement from this same meet last year. First-year Ally Leonesio of Dallas led the team with a time of 22:30.2 over the 5k course at the University of the Ozarks Cross Country Invitational. Battling the heat due to a later start and rolling hills, Leonesio and her teammates pushed each other throughout the race, which helped one Crusader to an overall PR.
