ALEXA SAUCEDO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year short stop from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 28 through Sunday, April 4. SCAC Softball Release - Week 9
Saucedo sparked the Tiger offense last weekend in three-game SCAC series sweep at Dallas to improve Trinity’s record to 14-4 since the month of March. Saucedo batted .600, going 6-for-10 at the dish with four runs scored, three doubles and two RBI. She had a hit in all three games and two multi-hit games, highlighted by a perfect 3-for-3 in the series finale on Sunday. Saucedo also drew one walk to post an on-base percentage of .636 and finished with a .900 slugging percentage .
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior outfielder Sara Hey of Dallas hit a sizzling .571 at the plate last week, going 8-for-14, including a perfect 4-for-4 in a loss to SAGU last Tuesday. She walked three times to post a .647 on-base percentage and finished the week with one run scored and one double. Senior infielder Kennedy Moody of Schreiner led the Mountaineers with five RBI in a series sweep over Austin College last weekend. Moody batted .417 with two multi-hit games and three runs scored with a .500 on-base percentage and a .833 slugging percentage in the series. First-year outfielder Erica Otto of Southwestern hit .412 last week (7-for-17) with two doubles and a triple, driving in two runs and scoring three in five games for the Pirates. First-year infielder Lindsey Gonzalez of St. Thomas lifted the Celts to series sweep over Southwestern at home last weekend. Gonzalez batted .308, going 4-for-13, with four RBI, one run scored and a triple. First-year infielder Faith Hernandez of Texas Lutheran had a breakout weekend for the Bulldogs, posting a .625 batting average, going 5-for-8 at the plate in a series sweep over Centenary. Hernandez finished the series with three RBI, two doubles and two walks to post a .700 on-base percentage.
