KENDALL ACCETTA OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior from Portland, Ore., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets run from Friday, October 13 through Saturday, October 14. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 7)
Accetta led the 26th-ranked Colorado College women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish among 42 Division III teams at the prestigious Augustana College Invitational Saturday morning in Rock Island, Ill. Accetta paced the Tigers with a 10th-place individual finish, covering the 6K course in a personal-best time of 21:52.9. The Tigers finished the meet with 148 points, just ahead of 16th-ranked Calvin University with 165, No. 20 Wisconsin-Eau Claire (218) and No. 18 UC Santa Cruz (228). SCAC foe Trinity University placed 13th with 467 points.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Madison Habeck of Trinity was the Tigers' top scorer at the Augustana Interregional Invitational, finishing 54th out of nearly 400 runners. Her performance marked roughly a 50-place improvement compared to her placement last year at the same meet. First-year Mackenzie Combs of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with a 15th place finish at the ACU Naimadu Classic. She finished first among Division-III runners with a time of 24:10.6. First-year Teresa Cashen of Dallas posted a 6K PR at the ACU Naimadu Classic by almost a minute. The long sprints/mid-distance specialist ran a 26:37 while competing against teams from all associations and divisions. Senior Sophia Sanchez of St. Thomas finished with a 6K time of 24:23.0, leading the team at the Santa Clara Bronco invitational.
