JOSH WILLIAMS OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore from Alexandria, Va., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, April 8 through Sunday, April 14. It is the second consecutive week he has won the award. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 7
Williams broke his own school record in both the 100 and 200 meters Saturday at the KT Woodman Classic. He posted a time of 10.45 seconds in the 100 and 21.05 in the 200 with both times leading the SCAC as well as sitting fifth-fastest in the nation for Division III.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Diego Flores of Trinity ran two new personal bests at the SFA Carl Kight Invitational, which included a first-place finish in the 3k steeplechase with a new school record time of 9:06.77. That mark puts him at the top of the SCAC and 11th in the country. Flores also ran a new personal best of 1:58.98 in the 800. Sophomore Weston Guzman of Texas Lutheran ran a personal best of 10.62 in the 100 meters at the Warhawk Invite on Saturday. He was the top DIII finisher and was fifth overall in the event. This time places him second in the SCAC and 21st on the national list for the event. Junior Jamal Maxey of Southwestern shined at the SFA Carl Kight Invite, making his mark in the Pirate record book by clocking a school-record setting time in the 200 meters of 21.76 while finishing first in his heat. His time now places him fourth in the SCAC in the event. Senior Nico Walz of Dallas ran his first 10,000 meters of the year, posting a time of 30.09 at the War Hawk Classic.
