James Settles, Colorado College, Men's Track Athlete of the Week (Week 6)

JAMES SETTLES OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior from Claremont, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, April 3 through Sunday, April 9. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 6

Settles finished third and broke the school record in the 10K last Friday night at the KT Woodman Classic in Wichita, Kan. He finished with a time of 30:20.80, surpassing the previous school record of 30:43.01, set by Julian Boggs in 2007. It is Settles' second school record this season as he set the 5K mark at the Oxy Distance Carnival & Spring Break Classic on March 11. He currently holds the best time in the SCAC and the 20th fastest in the nation.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore James Urbina of St. Thomas won the 3,000 Steeplechase at the Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational against all D1 competition with a new personal best of 9:44.55, that currently puts him second in the SCAC. Junior Justin Johnson of Trinity had a full day on Friday at the David Noble Relays. He got 10th place in the 110h with a mark of 15.79. He then ran a 55.66 in the prelims of the 400h and ran a 55.21 in the finals a few hours later. This time was good for fifth place and a new conference-leading mark. He also anchored the 4x400 that took fifth with a time of 3:21.
