CURTIS HALE OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore defender from Richmond, Va., has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, September 26th through Sunday, October 2nd. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 5)
Hale led all CC field players last weekend, playing 172 of the 180 minutes, anchoring a backline that allowed just one goal and posted its second shutout of the year as the Tigers earned a 1-0-1 record to open conference play. In the SCAC opener for CC, Hale and the Tigers limited St. Thomas, who entered the contest averaging 3.5 goals per contest to just one goal in a 1-1 tie. In Sunday’s shutout win over Centenary, Hale helped to secure the second clean sheet of the season for Colorado College and chipped in offensively with his third goal of the year.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defender JonConnor Rule of Trinity held it down over the weekend as the anchor of the backline. Rule and the Trinity defense held TLU and Southwestern to nine shots on the weekend with four shots on frame. Southwestern only scored on a penalty kick so Rule and the backline played a pivotal role in keeping the Pirates from scoring on an attacking opportunity. Rule tallied 139 minutes on the weekend.
