CAELI TAYLOR OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Tilden, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 2)
Taylor paved the way for a sixth place team finish (of 12 teams represented) at the Rice Invitational. Taylor was the first non-Division I runner in the field to break the tape in a time of 16:57 for the long 4K, scoring at 30th place.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Madeline Vacula of Centenary highlighted Friday's meet for the Ladies as she finished third overall in the 5000 meter run with a time of 21.15.0 at the Texas A&M-Texarkana Collegiate Invitational. Senior Sophia Sanchez of St. Thomas picked up the Celts' highest finish at 41st place, clocking a time of 17:00 flat at the Nory Hersey Rice Invitational. Against a tough field, including five Division I programs, UST finished in seventh place.
