JULISSA RODRIGUEZ OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a first-year from Deer Park, Texas has been selected the SCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, February 28 through Sunday, March 6.
Rodriguez competed in all four throwing events at the Trinity Invite - establishing PRs in all four. She shined most in the shot put with a heave of 12.59m (41-3 3/4) for fourth overall and first among D3 competitors. That toss currently ranks her second in all of D3 in the event.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Kierra Francois of Trinity competed in all four throwing events at the Trinity Invite, setting two new personal bests in the hammer and javelin. Her 44.04m throw in the hammer placed her seventh and is a new school record. Junior Charlotte Kraushaar of Southwestern set the school record in the high jump (1.47m), finishing second overall at the Trinity Invite. Sophomore Macie Malone of Schreiner set a new school record in the javelin at the Trinity Invite with a toss of 21.26m.
