RILEY BRANTLEY OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior middle blocker from League City, Texas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 26 through Sunday, October 2. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 5)
Brantley highlighted the offensive effort from her middle blocker's position in the Pirates' 3-1 win against Austin College with 15 kills, a .424 hitting percentage and four aces. In three conference matches, the senior hit .475 (31 kills, 61 total attempts, two errors) and averaged 3.10 kills and 0.70 aces per set as her offensive versatility helped the Pirates to an undefeated weekend (4-0 overall).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year outside hitter Reagan Whatley of Trinity set new career highs of 17 kills and 13 digs for her second collegiate double-double in the Tigers' sweep at Schreiner on Saturday, part of a day that also included a sweep of No. 24 Colorado College. Whatley logged per-set averages of 4.17 kills and 3.67 digs and a .333 hitting percentage across Trinity's six sets. Seven of the Houston area-native's 17 kills against the Mountaineers came in the final set. Junior outside hitter Tanyse Moehrig of Texas Lutheran was a force for the Bulldogs all week - taking over several matches and finishing the week with 55 kills (2.89 per set) and a .293 hitting percentage. She's currently second in the SCAC with 189 kills on the season. Junior outside hitter Isabella Lipacis of Colorado College had 40 kills and hit for a .274 percentage as the Tigers posted a 1-1 week. In addition to averaging 5.0 kills per set, the junior also had 39 digs (4.8 digs per set) on the weekend. First-year outside hitter Audrey Cataline of St. Thomas posted an impressive 4.0 points and 3.29 kills per set, tabulating 46 kills, 56.5 total points and six service aces on a 2-2 week for the Celts. Senior outside hitter Kayla Lofland of Schreiner recorded her 1,000th career kill in the team's 3-2 win over McMurry.
